Day Trip to Westhaven Promenade Auckland: Marina, Harbour Bridge and Waterfront Walk

What to Do

The promenade runs along the inner harbour edge past Westhaven Marina — Auckland’s largest marina, with hundreds of yachts and motorboats moored in the basin. The path passes beneath the Auckland Harbour Bridge, giving a close view of the underside of the bridge structure from water level. At the Wynyard Quarter end, the Silo Park area and viaduct precinct have food trucks, outdoor dining, and events on weekends.

For those on bikes or wanting a longer day, the promenade is the western anchor of a 13km waterfront route that continues through Mission Bay, Kohimarama, and St Heliers along Tamaki Drive — one of the best flat waterfront cycling and walking routes in the city.

Evening Visit

The Harbour Bridge Vector Lights run after dark, projecting coloured light displays onto the bridge structure. An evening walk or cycle along the promenade with the bridge lit and the marina reflected in still water is one of the better free experiences in central Auckland.
