How to Choose the Right Luxury Golf Tour Operator in New Zealand

• Ask which courses are actually confirmed. The names that sell a New Zealand golf trip are largely private or resort courses with limited outside access. An operator saying they can arrange a round is different from an operator holding a confirmed time. Get the difference in writing before you pay a deposit.
• Decide whether you want a guide or a booking service. Some operators send a golf professional with you for the whole trip; others plan brilliantly and hand you the keys. The hosted format costs more and suits first-time visitors; a self-drive itinerary suits people who like their own pace.
• Work out the driving before you fall for the itinerary. New Zealand looks small and drives large. A tour that puts three marquee courses in three days can mean most of your holiday behind a windscreen. Ask for the transfer times, and ask what a helicopter leg would replace.
• Say up front who is not playing. Golf trips usually include people who do not golf. Ask at the planning stage whether wine, food and scenic days can be built around the golf, because it is far harder to add them the week before you fly.
